Facial Massage For Wrinkles

Facial Massage for Wrinkles

It seems that the face, just like the rest of the body, needs to have its muscles exercised so that they remain supple and strong.

Sagging muscles increase wrinkles in the skin. Facial massage is a method of exercising facial muscles.

We dont always realize that we are under stress but the muscles in our faces seem to know it.

We will, unknowingly, pucker our mouths or draw our brows together when we are faced with physical or emotional stress.

You might think that these facial expressions would constitute facial muscle exercise…and they do but it is the wrong kind of exercise.

Repeated facial expressions cause wrinkles; they dont alleviate them.

Facial massage is designed to exercise the muscles as well as to relax them.

Facial massage also increases blood flow to facial skin. The gentle upward strokes done by a trained masseuse can exercise and relax the facial muscles while increasing blood flow to the skin all at the same time.

Trained masseuses know where the pressure points are located on the face and know how to manipulate the muscles to help relax and restore muscle tone.

If you want to do facial massage yourself, you can. Use gentle circular motions at the corners of the eyes and on the forehead.

It is best to apply a good moisturizer before beginning to decrease friction between your fingertips and your face.

Use gentle upward strokes with your fingertips beginning at your chin and going upward and out ward toward your hairline.

For those worry lines between your brows use an upward and outward stroke toward your hairline, as well as, small gentle circular motion to stimulate blood flow to the area.

Never press very hard on your skin and make the massage gentle to prevent stretching the facial tissue.
