Does Dry Skin Cause Wrinkles?

Does Dry Skin Cause Wrinkles?

Most people believe that dry skin is the cause of wrinkles…and it does make sense. It seems that if skin gets dry it would wrinkle, which is true, but the dry skin is not the cause of the wrinkles.

The cause of the wrinkles is the problem that has caused the dry skin. Dry skin is a result…not a cause.

The things that can cause skin to become dry are over exposure to direct sunlight, fat loss, pollution, genetic changes and estrogen loss.

All of these things and others such as disease and just plain old getting older, can cause the skin to become dry and can cause wrinkles, as well.

Of course, the cosmetic industry makes bazillions of dollars every year by convincing consumers that dry skin is the cause of wrinkles.

You wont find that claim made in any medical journals…only the cosmetic industry makes this assertion.

Moisturizers do alleviate the appearance of dry skin temporarily. They make the skin look less wrinkled but they are not going to erase wrinkles.

Products that contain antioxidants and cell-communication ingredients can help the skin to actually be less dry as opposed to just looking less dry.

Eating a healthy diet that includes whole grain foods, vegetables and fruits can help the body keep the skin moisturized, as well.

Keeping the body well hydrated is another important factor in preventing the skin from becoming dry, as well as, keeping wrinkles from forming prematurely.

The human body is made up of mostly water. It requires a lot of fluid every day in order to stay well hydrated through and though…including the skin.

Using a sufficient sun block product when the skin is to be exposed to direct sunlight is very important in the prevention of dry skin as well as in the prevention of wrinkles.
